CameraWatch invited to present at the inaugural 2011 CCTV World Conference in Sydney Australia. 'CCTV World 2011' brings together various sectors including retail, public transport, hospitality, manufacturing, warehousing, banking and local governments, as well as law enforcement, security and CCTV experts to uncover the latest CCTV technologies, and the effect of these developments on the implementation and management of CCTV networks. The summit will focus on critical issues including the move from analogue to digital CCTV systems and the implications for organisations using CCTV technology along with the benefits that new technologies can bring. 'CCTV World 2011' will also offer insight into policy and legislation, as well as the privacy issues surrounding the use of CCTV surveillance systems for security both locally and internationally, cost saving strategies that can be put in place with implementing CCTV networks, the need for increased data security with IP based systems, systems migrations challenges and how to manage them, as well the changing expertise requirements needed with the move towards digital CCTV networks. CameraWatch's Paul Mackie was extended a personal invitation due to his expertise in the CCTV Data Protection field and will be the only speaker for the events section on this subject as the event looks at how Australia should look to learn from the experiences of the UK with regards to regulation and legislation. Paul is also carrying out a half day workshop at the conference where he will be concentrating on the "How to avoid getting caught in the trap of operating illegal CCTV systems" CEO and Compliance Director Paul Mackie was eager to support the event and he said "I would very much like to support the CCTV industry and CCTV users in the Southern Hemisphere to avoid the problems raised through non-existent regulation of CCTV systems in the UK. Through recognising the issues and repercussions of non-compliant CCTV systems in the UK, hopefully I can support the conference attandees to ensure that they use CCTV systems properly and legally with specific emphasis on the personal data captured. CameraWatch is on record as stating that over 90% of CCTV systems observed by them throughout the UK do not comply with the law of the land - they are in fact ILLEGAL and as such raises severe questions on the use of CCTV images as evidence in a court of law".
